KAPKEMICH

The Risen Christ Kapkemich Parish is found in the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret and is bordering Erusui parish in the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega to the west, the Catholic Diocese of Kisumu to the south, Kobujoi parish to the east and Tindinyo to the north. It used to be an outstation of Kobujoi parish. It was established in February 1997 by the Benedictine missionary, Father Matthias Wetzel who became the first parish priest. He started his work aggressively by strengthening the faith of the people, training his parish officials on how to take responsibilities, keeping records and knowing the number of Christians. He conducted monthly parish council meetings and taught the officials and the catechists how to run the church.

The Christians assisted in digging the foundations, bringing the stones and water for all the 20 outstations of the parish constructed by Father Matthias.
With over 8,000 Christians, today our parish community deals with the pastoral work of the parish in 26 outstations with 62 Small Christian communities. The parish has families who are in mixed Christian denominations. The parish celebrated silver jubilee (25 years) on Easter Sunday, 17th of February 2022 with Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Dr. William Kosgey, Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Eldoret. The parish has 9 primary schools and 5 secondary schools.

Most of the pastoral work is conducted in the Small Christian Communities. At the main parish church, the programme is as shown below.
